Conformity with Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives

The curriculum of a study program is compiled and developed with reference to the vision, mission, and objectives of the study program. Determination of graduate competency standards refers to Kepmendiknas No. 045 / U / 2002. In this decision what is meant by competence is a set of intelligent actions, full of responsibility that a person has as a condition to be considered capable by the community in carrying out tasks in certain occupations. Graduates are expected to have competence in terms of Knowledge and Understanding, Intellectual Skills, Practical Skills, and Managerial and Attitude Skills (Managerial Skill and Attitude). The general competency standard is formulated for each field of study in the study program and distributed into a number of subjects in eight semesters.

In addition to these competencies, graduates are also expected to have independence and work skills, communicate, organize and be able to develop, disseminate knowledge, and skills in daily activities which are supporting competencies and additional competencies. Graduates are expected to have insight into the future, be responsive to global change and be able to build a network of cooperation with various parties in accordance with the vision of UPI’s Perpusinfo Study Program, namely as an institution capable of producing superior, independent and cultured graduates in the field of Pusdokinfo.

The strategy carried out in achieving the vision, mission, and objectives of the study program is by increasing the relevance of teaching materials on a regular basis by updating, adjusting and revising the curriculum, especially in developing syllabus and SAP (Lecture Program Unit). This is aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the education process, improving the academic management and administration system, creating a conducive work climate and academic atmosphere, increasing the linkages with the world of work, and improving the quality of internal resources.

Relevance to the demands and needs of stakeholders

Conformity between learning carried out on campus and labor market needs is explored by conducting community service activities conducted regularly by lecturers of study programs, where input from external stakeholders (users, alumni, government, private sector, and professional associations) is a reference in changes teaching materials in curriculum and learning.

Input from internal stakeholders (students and lecturers) is used in increasing the acceleration of learning methods that are effective in terms of understanding. Evaluation and updating of teaching materials is carried out every school year and adapted to the development of science and technology. Generally the evaluation results are only material updates, learning methods and adjustments to user needs.

In mid-2011 (April 28-30, 2011) a workshop was held on the curriculum which was attended by all permanent lecturers and outstanding lecturers of Perpusinfo Study Program. The purpose of this activity is to review and develop the curriculum to fit the needs and demands of the community. The workshop lasted for two days and produced a mapping of courses and syllabus for several ongoing subjects, because the 2009 new student admission period took place in August. This means that the curriculum has only been running for four semesters during the workshop. At this workshop a complete set of learning and syllabus courses was completed.

Curriculum Structure and Contents (Extent, Depth, Coherence, Arrangement / Organization)

The structure and contents of the curriculum are adjusted to Kepmendiknas No. 232 / U / 2000 concerning Guidelines for Preparation of Higher Education Curriculum and Student Learning Assessment and No. 045 / U / 2002 concerning the core education curriculum as well as the Statute of the Indonesian Education University. The curriculum is compiled and developed based on competency. This is done with the aim of maintaining breadth, depth, coherence, and structuring / organization of the subjects listed in the curriculum, so that the study program curriculum remains adaptive and responsive to the demands of development, both nationally and internationally.

During the opening of 2009 to 2012, Perpusinfo Study Program used a 2009 Curriculum with 150 study loads that must be taken by students, whereas starting in 2013 a change in the New Curriculum Structure is planned and equipped with a number of courses with as much study load 148 credits.

The structure and content of the curriculum in the study program are disseminated in such a way as to pay attention to the prerequisite and competency subjects so that curriculum coherence can be achieved. The curriculum is organized / organized based on the level of difficulty of the course, so that students can complete the difficulty level gradually semester by semester. Semester I to semester IV is only for compulsory subjects, while study program courses are offered in semester V and so on. If students take courses according to curriculum distribution offered by study programs, students will be able to complete their studies on time, ie 4 years (8 Semesters).

Each course in the curriculum is made syllabus and Lecture / Learning Unit (SAP) which covers the competencies to be achieved and the subject matter of the lecture, so that the depth of the lecture material taught is clear and measurable. Apart from that, each subject is structured in such a way that it can provide independent assignments to students with assessments greater than 20%. This task includes seminars / presentations, writing articles related to courses, etc., so that the curriculum gives students the breadth of their knowledge.

Degree of Integration of Learning Materials (Intra and Interdisciplinary)

The study program curriculum is arranged in the order of courses based on the level of difficulty and attention to prerequisites, so that the curriculum shows excellent intra-disciplinary integrity. Whereas interdisciplinary integrity is shown by the relationship between the syllabus of one course and the other. Syllabus in one particular subject is directed to other relevant subjects to support the success and achievement of competencies.

Local Curriculum in Accordance with the Needs of Nearby Communities and Institutional Internal Interests

The local content curriculum developed in the Perpusinfo Study Program Curriculum follows local content developed at the university, namely in the form of courses that support pedagogical (educational) competencies.

Elective Courses that Refer to Student Expectations / Needs Individually / Specific Student Groups

In the 2009 curriculum, Perpusinfo Study Program only developed an additional choice of expertise that could be chosen by students, while in the 2013 Curriculum two options were developed, namely Managerial Skills and ICT Applications in the Field of Education and Information.

Opportunities for Students to Develop themselves: continue their studies, develop themselves, gain knowledge and understanding of specific material in accordance with their fields of study, develop transferable skills (transferable skills), oriented towards careers, and job acquisition

The study program curriculum is structured so that students can develop themselves well to gain knowledge and understanding of specific material in accordance with their chosen field of interest. Syllabus and SAP courses in the curriculum can improve skills that are close to proficient and transferable skills that are good to students and refer to the demands of the world of work so that students from Perpusinfo Study Program are expected to find jobs more easily, develop careers and study further.
